Ebook About
Five years after the horrific crash of TWA Flight 800 over Long Island which killed 230 people, John Corey is inadvertently caught up in the now-closed case by his FBI lawyer wife, Kate, who believes the government's findings of mechanical failure is wrong. The FBI don't take kindly to the case being looked into again and, as John Corey's instincts and investigations clearly show anomalies, he and Kate are sent off to the Yemen and Tanzania for a month or so each as punishment. On his return, John is not put off - he has ten days' leave. Ten days in which to avoid the FBI and to find that elusive video tape taken by two adulterous lovers on the beach which may - or may not - show a sea-to-air missile racing up to hit the TWA Flight 800… An exciting, edge-of-the-seat thriller - Nelson DeMille's best to date.

Book Night Fall: Number 3 in series (John Corey) Review :

I've read a number of DeMille novels recently and have been very happy. This one was disappointing and for the life of me, I can't see how this particular book warrants all the five-star and four-star ratings. The writing is generally fun and easy to read, but there's just way too much filler and not really that much plot. At one point I nearly quit reading, which would be a "first" for me for a DeMille book. Although you learn quite a lot of theories about TWA 800, essentially the story is just one very long search for a couple that may have filmed the crash. Unfortunately the search goes on far, far too long and in the end, nothing happens. There's a coverup but never any explanation why there needed to be a coverup, and what is "revealed" cannot be reconciled with the official report or the other facts that are given. It doesn't matter, though, because the ending is telegraphed the minute you read that the flight went down in 1996 and he refers to attending a memorial for the fifth year anniversary. Since you can't have a fictional ending to a real event, the math telegraphs how the book must end. In the end, the entertainment value and information about various theories let me rate it a "three" but it's very close to a "two."
I really enjoyed about 3/4 of the book, and the mystery, suspense, investigation of the air disaster I all found very absorbing. But then it’s like the author didn’t know how to wrap up the story. The plot line veers off course as he ties in the current real life events of the time, and the story wends to an unsatisfying conclusion that leaves many of the key questions and elements of the story unanswered. So I felt a little let down after I had invested so much time with this book.
